🇷🇺 Putin: Russia Expresses Concern and Pain Over the Middle East Crisis
Moscow, October 26, 2023 – Russian President Vladimir Putin has voiced his deep concern and sorrow over the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East, emphasizing the sacred significance of the Holy Land to followers of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.
In a recent statement, President Putin addressed the global community, highlighting the urgency of the situation in the Middle East and its direct relevance to Russia. He stated, “I wanted to talk to you about the events in the Middle East, and in some other regions of the world, but above all, of course, about the Middle East. Because this concerns us.”
The Russian President went on to express his empathy for the people in the region, saying, “We are all following with concern and pain in our hearts the tragic situation in the Holy Land, which has sacred importance for Christians, Muslims, Jews, and followers of the world’s major traditional religions. A new round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has claimed the lives of thousands of people.”
The recent escalation of violence in the Middle East began on October 7 when Hamas initiated “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.” During this operation, thousands of rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip, with specific operations involving the storming of settlements surrounding the Gaza Strip.
In response, Israel launched “Operation Iron Swords,” unleashing a series of intense air strikes on the Gaza Strip. The result has been devastating, with a high number of casualties on both sides. As of the latest reports, the death toll from Israeli bombings in the Gaza Strip has reached 5,791, with 18,000 people wounded. On the Israeli side, over 1,400 individuals have lost their lives, including 308 officers and soldiers, while more than 200 Israelis have been captured by Hamas.
Russia’s concern over the Middle East crisis is evident, with President Putin emphasizing the importance of international efforts to seek a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict. This situation not only impacts the immediate region but also has far-reaching consequences for global stability and peace.
The Russian government has long held that the establishment of a Palestinian state is crucial to resolving the Middle East conflict. The Kremlin’s stance remains that a two-state solution is the foundation for a lasting and peaceful resolution to the ongoing tensions.
