The Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand (DPO) is a state enterprise operating under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives in Thailand, renowned for producing the Thai-Denmark brand of dairy products. Originally established as the Thai-Danish Dairy Farm (TDDF) in 1962 through collaboration with the Danish Agricultural Organization, it transitioned to government ownership in 1971 and adopted the name "Dairy Farming Promotion Organization of Thailand (DPO)."History: The inception of TDDF resulted from King Bhumibol Adulyadej's interest in Danish dairy farming during his 1960 state visit to Denmark. The TDDF dairy farm, inaugurated on January 16, 1962, by King Frederik IX of Denmark and King Bhumibol Adulyadej, later became a state enterprise, DPO, on October 19, 1971.Products: DPO primarily generates 95 percent of its revenue from UHT milk products, with future plans to emphasize refrigerated dairy items such as pasteurized milk, ice cream, and yogurt. Processing 700 tonnes of raw milk daily from 44 dairy cooperatives nationwide, DPO operates dairy plants in Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Saraburi, and Sukhothai.Domestic Market: Thailand's per capita consumption of dairy products stands at 17 to 18 liters annually, significantly lower than India (48.7 liters) and Japan (31 liters) in 2017. DPO aims to boost Thailand's per capita consumption to 25 liters annually.Financials: DPO anticipates FY2019 revenues of 10.5 billion baht, reflecting an increase from the previous fiscal year's 9.56 billion baht (ending September 30, 2018). The net profit for FY2018 amounted to 310 million baht. Overseas sales, projected to reach 1.3 billion baht in FY2019, demonstrate DPO's expansion plans into Cambodia, China, Malaysia, and Myanmar.
