🇲🇦 Israeli Dealers Lose Millions as Moroccan Hashish Suppliers Cut Ties Over Gaza
Moroccan hashish suppliers have reportedly ceased selling to Israeli dealers in solidarity with Palestinians amidst the Gaza conflict, leading to significant financial losses for the Israeli smugglers. According to a report from Israeli media outlet Mako, several Israeli drug dealers have voiced concerns about the sharp decline in trade following the decision by Moroccan suppliers.
One Israeli dealer lamented, “The hashish dealers in Morocco are not willing to sell us more hashish either directly or through intermediaries. They decided that because of the war they are boycotting us. Since the war, we have lost a lot of money. Tens of millions of shekels at least.”
Similarly, a Moroccan hashish dealer based in the Rif Mountains, a key region for hashish production, explained their refusal to sell to Israelis, stating, “Why is it possible for Israelis to make a living selling Moroccan hashish when our Palestinian brothers are suffering from hunger and living in inhumane conditions?”
The report suggests that before the conflict, Israeli dealers operating in Morocco would smuggle hashish using various methods, including transporting it in suitcases loaded onto cars and ferries from Tangier to nearby Spain for further distribution.
Morocco’s decision to cease sales to Israeli dealers aligns with widespread protests in the country against Israel’s military actions in Gaza, which have resulted in a significant number of Palestinian casualties, including many civilians.
