Samogitian (žemaitiu ruoda, žemaitiu kalba, or žemaitiu rokundais) is spoken in the Samogitia|Samogitian region of Lithuania. The language, which is considered a dialect by Lithuanian linguists, is closely related to Lithuanian phrasebook|Standard Lithuanian.

Dialects

There are three region dialects, which are mutually intelligible. The following phrasebook is based on the dialect spoken in Telšiai, or a Dounininkai dialect. Western dialect is almost extinct.
