Be’er Sheva, Israel — The Emergency Department at Soroka Hospital is grappling with a surge in injured Israeli soldiers, with over 45 military personnel arriving in a single day, 10 of whom sustained severe injuries, according to Moti Klein, the hospital’s ER Director. The influx of casualties is a stark reflection of the toll that the ongoing conflict in Gaza is taking on the Israeli military.

Klein expressed concern over the strain that this sudden increase in injured soldiers is placing on Soroka Hospital’s resources. “We are facing an unprecedented situation here at Soroka,” Klein stated during a press conference. “The influx of injured soldiers has stretched our capabilities to the limit. We are doing everything in our power to provide the best possible care, but the sheer volume of cases is a significant challenge.”

The Emergency Department Director revealed that since October 7, Soroka Hospital has received more than 700 individuals injured in the conflict. The escalation in violence has intensified the need for medical attention, overwhelming the hospital staff and resources.

“Our dedicated medical professionals are working around the clock to attend to the needs of these brave soldiers,” Klein emphasized. “We are mobilizing all available resources, including additional staff and medical supplies, to ensure that we can continue to deliver high-quality care to those who need it the most.”

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza has resulted in an increasing number of casualties on both sides, placing immense pressure on medical facilities and personnel. The situation at Soroka Hospital serves as a poignant reminder of the human cost of armed conflicts and the critical role that healthcare institutions play during such challenging times.

As the conflict continues, Soroka Hospital and other medical facilities across the region are bracing themselves for the possibility of additional casualties. The international community is closely monitoring the situation, with calls for a peaceful resolution and efforts to alleviate the humanitarian crisis intensifying.
