Dubrovnik-Neretva is the southern portion of Dalmatia and the southernmost county of Croatia. It consists of a narrow strip of land along the coast and the long Peljesac peninsula and a number of islands. The coastal strip is not contiguous – it is split in two by a 9 km stretch of Herzegovina, part of the nation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, around the town of Neum.
