  • Neiva – Founded in 1612 by on the fertile grounds of the Magdalena Valley by Diego de Ospina Y Medinilla, with around 350,000 inhabitants it is the department's capital.
  • Gigante – Town known for its Ceiba de la libertad, a huge tree planted in a park as a symbol to the abolition of slavery in 1850.
  • Villavieja – Located close to the Tatacoa Desert, this village is a good place for fossil hunting and star watching.
