History

How is the Landscape of Sehlabathebe National Park

In the southeastern corner of the small mountainous country of Lesotho and the park's average elevation is 2400 above sea level. Spectacular rock formations, rock pools and waterfalls are some of the park's highlights. In addition to the mountains, several different types of grassland can be encountered in the national park.

Flora and fauna

The flora is made up of Afro-Alpine and Sub-Alpine plants and herbs. The park is home to several endangered species; different types of vulture and the Maloti Minnow.

The traditional way to get into the park is hiking or riding. The tour company Khotso offers riding tours from the South African side. If you're driving and there are two roads into the park (access by 4WD vehicles) — one from Thaba-Tseka in the middle of the nation and another from the South Africa. Several South African tour companies operating in the Drakensberg area also offer tours into Sehlabathebe.
