Thies (pronounced: "chess") (French:Thiès) is the capital of the Thies administrative region and the third largest city in Senegal.

Thies is 60 kilometers east of Dakar on the N2 road and at the junction of railway lines to Dakar, Bamako and Saint-Louis. A commuter line and the Petit train de banlieu runs several times per day from Dakar. Thiès station GPS 14.797545,-16.929357 is centrally located on Ave General de Gaulle.
