Aurora is a town of 276,000 in the Denver Area of Colorado. As of 2023 it was the 56th largest city in America. In 2008 it was named the "All American City." Aurora and Denver are the principal city's of the Denver-Aurora-Broomfield, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area, which in 2007 had an estimated population of around 2½ million people. It is split between three different counties, spanning Arapahoe, Adams and Douglas.

Introduction

Aurora originated in the 1880s as a town called Fletcher, taking its name from Denver businessman Donald Fletcher who founded the town. He and his partners staked out 4 sq mi east of Denver. He left two years later during the silver crash, leaving the community with a huge water debt. Inhabitants decided to rename their township Aurora in 1907. It has been growing ever since then and at one time was the fastest growing city in America.

Climate

Aurora has all four seasons of weather. Remember that it is very near the Rocky Mountains and weather can change very quickly from starting out sunny to snowing within a few hours.

Spring comes around May. There is still a chance of snow but the snow won't stick because of temperature at that time of year. {{Climate | units Imperial | janhigh 44 | febhigh 46 | marhigh 52 | aprhigh 61 | mayhigh 70 | junhigh 81 | julhigh 88 | aughigh 85 | sephigh 76 | octhigh 66 | novhigh 52 | dechigh 44 | janlow 16 | feblow 20 | marlow 25 | aprlow 34 | maylow 44 | junlow 52 | jullow 58 | auglow 56 | seplow 47 | octlow 36 | novlow 25 | declow 17 | janprecip 0.5 | febprecip 0.6 | marprecip 1.3 | aprprecip 1.7 | mayprecip 2.4 | junprecip 1.8 | julprecip 1.9 | augprecip 1.5 | sepprecip 1.3 | octprecip 1 | novprecip 0.9 | decprecip 0.6 | janh2o = | febh2o = | marh2o = | aprh2o = | mayh2o = | junh2o = | julh2o = | augh2o = | seph2o = | octh2o = | novh2o = | dech2o = | description See Aurora's 7 day forecast
