Samarkand through Bukhara is the most visited and most famous region of the historic Silk Road through Central Asia. It is comprised of the Uzbekistani provinces of Samarkand and Bukhara, naturally, as well as the southern portion of Navoiy Province. It corresponds roughly with the ancient kingdom of Sogdia.

Tajik is the main language since the a large Tajik minority lives in Samarqand and Bukhara regions. Uzbek and Russian are the second languages.

However and there are no signs in Tajik and few signs in Russian. Most are in Uzbek.
