Meiringen is located in the Bernese Oberland area of Switzerland. It is a small town with roughly 4,000 inhabitants. Meiringen holds two claims to fame: the birthplace of the meringue and the location for the death of Sherlock Holmes. The town also acts as an excellent base for outdoor activities with cable cars running out of the village and a number of Postbuses running into central Switzerland.
