History

The history of Pudukkottai is an epitome of the history of South India. The nearest airport is Trichi's Tiruchirapally Civil (IATA Flight Code: TRZ). Pudukkotai is about 50 kilometers from Trichi. Regular bus services are from Trichi to Pudukkottai. AirIndia Express also operates a daily domestic service to Chennai and weekly service to Mumbai. Sri Lankan airlines gives connection to rest of the world through Coloumbo as transit point.

• Pudukkottai Museum | Thirukokaranam, Pudukkottai, 622022 Opening Hours: 9.30 AM to 5 PM. Closed on Fridays, Second Saturdays, Three National Holidays Adult ₹5 Children ₹3 Students ₹2 for Non Indians ₹100 or $2 The museum was opened in 1910 by the Thondaiman Rulers. It is one of the largest museums in Tamil Nadu.
• Chithannavasal - Located at Annavasal. Around 10 kilometers from Pudukkottai on the way to Manaparai - Living places of Jains. Jain temples. The place is almost 800 years old. Nearby Lake and Boating. Nicely landscaped garden.
