The Netherlands Antilles used to be a constituent state of the The Netherlands|Kingdom of the Netherlands. The term is still loosely used to describe the various islands in the Caribbean that were formerly Dutch colonial possessions, even though the Netherlands Antilles ceased to exist on October 10, 2010.
