E.N.A. Meat Packing Inc. Takes Steps to Address Recall of Frozen, Raw Halal Beef and Lamb Products
In a recent development, E.N.A. Meat Packing Inc., an establishment in Paterson, N.J., has initiated a recall involving approximately 58,721 pounds of frozen, raw halal beef tripe, beef feet, and lamb tripe products. This action has been taken as these items were produced without the benefit of federal inspection, according to an announcement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The frozen, raw beef tripe, beef feet, and lamb tripe products in question were manufactured between January 2023 and August 2023. The following products are part of the recall, regardless of their packed-on date:
- Approximately 30-lb. cardboard boxes containing “E.N.A. MEAT PACKING CORP. HALAL BEEF TRIPE (green tripe).”
- Approximately 25-lb. cardboard boxes containing “E.N.A. MEAT PACKING CORP. HALAL BEEF FEET.”
- Approximately 30-lb. cardboard boxes containing “E.N.A. MEAT PACKING CORP. HALAL LAMB TRIPE.”
These products, identified by establishment number “#17778M” inside the USDA mark of inspection, were distributed to various distributors and retail outlets in New Jersey and New York. It is possible that consumers may encounter these items in their original cardboard boxes or displayed in the meat section of the store.
The issue came to light during FSIS surveillance activities. It was discovered that the firm had produced the beef and lamb products without undergoing federal inspection.
It is important to note that, as of now, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions stemming from the consumption of these products. Individuals who are concerned about their health should consider reaching out to a healthcare provider.
Given that some of these products may still be present in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers, it is advised that those who have purchased these items refrain from consuming them. The products should either be properly discarded or returned to the point of purchase.
FSIS maintains its commitment to ensuring the effectiveness of recalls by confirming that the recalling companies have taken necessary steps to inform their customers about the recall. Moreover, actions are taken to ensure that the products are no longer accessible to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be accessible on the FSIS website.
