In Cologne, a Kurdish wedding on Friday saw a stabbing incident unfold. According to the police, multiple individuals sustained serious injuries, and three men are currently on the run.
Following a dispute resulting in three individuals sustaining severe injuries during a wedding celebration in Cologne, the police are actively searching for the perpetrators. “We are analyzing witness statements, and investigations are ongoing,” said a spokesperson on Sunday. Three men, aged 34, 40, and 45, were seriously injured with cuts and stabs during the altercation. They underwent emergency surgeries at hospitals, with no lingering threat to their lives, as stated by the police spokesperson. All three have now been questioned by the homicide commission.
According to police reports, at least three suspected assailants fled the scene, the Eurosaal on Vitalisstrasse in the Vogelsang district of Cologne, in multiple cars. The Eurosaal is a well-known venue for weddings.
Witnesses interviewed in a rescue bus
In the evening, police officers conducted interviews with numerous eyewitnesses in a rescue bus. The motive behind the stabbing incident is yet to be determined. Despite the violent incident, celebrations reportedly continued, according to observations by a WDR reporter. While the police were engaged in collecting evidence, additional guests, including those with young children from various parts of North Rhine-Westphalia, arrived for the festivities.
