In a recent development, leaders from the Iranian Institute of Standards and Industrial Research (ISIRI) and the Vietnam Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality (STAMEQ) convened to discuss and enhance cooperation in the fields of metrology and Halal industries. During the meeting, both Mehdi Eslam-Panah, Head of ISIRI, and Ha Minh Hiep, Director of STAMEQ, emphasized the importance of sharing expertise and utilizing existing capabilities to foster smoother trade activities between the two nations.
Ha Minh Hiep extended a warm welcome to the prospect of leveraging Iran’s scientific and technical knowledge in the realms of standardization and quality management, particularly within the context of Halal industries. He encouraged Iran to endorse Vietnam’s Halal certification authorities, acknowledging Vietnam as a significant food product producer.
Within this collaborative context, ISIRI’s Deputy Head for Quality Assessment, Ehsan Sadeh, highlighted the significance of cooperation in standardization, conformity assessment, metrology, and product certification as the bedrock for augmenting bilateral trade.
Ebrahim Ebrahimi, the Director General of ISIRI’s International and Legal Affairs Office, also noted ISIRI’s membership in the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), underscoring Iran’s role as a board member of this institute. Ebrahimi expressed optimism that the agreements forged during the meetings will swiftly transition into actionable initiatives.
Ha Minh Hiep’s visit from Hanoi to Iran was part of a distinguished delegation led by Vietnam’s Parliament Chairman, Vuong Dinh Hue. During their sojourn in Tehran, the Vietnamese delegation participated in a business forum hosted by the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA). This forum, titled “Regulations and Policies for Enhancing Economic, Commercial, and Investment Cooperation between Iran and Vietnam,” attracted senior officials from both sides, including Hossein Selahvarzi, Head of ICCIMA, Ezatollah Akbari Talar-Poshti, Head of the Iranian Parliament’s Industry and Mining Committee, and Vuong Dinh Hue.
