Bandung, August 5, 2023 – The KKNM team from Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad), led by Field Supervisor Dr. Amelia Hayati, S.Si., M.T., M.Si., has achieved a milestone by conducting a financial training event and launching halal tourism products at Pesantren Persis 259 Firdaus, located in Margamekar Village, Pangalengan, Bandung Regency, on Saturday.
The head of the KKNM team for Margamekar Village, Muhammad Idzhar Faisa, stated that the team of nine students undertook three main tasks: creating a halal tourism blueprint, launching products, and providing financial training.
Pesantren Persis (PPI) 259 Firdaus, the center of attention, has identified potential in its business units such as Greenhouse, Adn, Cooperative, and the collaborative business Kopi Datar Pinus. This potential served as the foundation for developing a halal tourism concept that integrates business activities with Sharia principles.
The concept of halal tourism encompasses more than just halal food; it involves services and facilities in line with Islamic values. Pesantren PPI 259 Firdaus upholds these values and has become a pioneer in halal tourism destinations. In this context, the KKN-PPM team created a halal tourism concept that integrates activities from PPI 259 Firdaus’ business units with Sharia values, starting with the blueprint.
This concept not only focuses on organizing halal tourism but also involves efforts to establish more effective communication channels between halal tourism destinations and their consumers.
“By designing a website, the Unpad KKNM team hopes that tourists will find it easier to access information about the activities and facilities offered by PPI 259 Firdaus, bringing this destination closer to prospective tourists,” Idzhar said in a statement received by Kanal Media Unpad.
These efforts will be reinforced by the launch of the blueprint and website as the official product inauguration. This blueprint is expected to provide valuable guidance for PPI 259 Firdaus in developing halal tourism destinations in accordance with Islamic Sharia principles and delivering long-term benefits.
However, the development of halal tourism cannot be separated from sustainable financial aspects. The collaboration between Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Indonesian Institute of Accountants (IAI) in issuing the Pesantren Accounting Guidelines (PAP) serves as a guideline for managing pesantren finances.
The financial training aims to promote transparency, accountability, and proper financial management within the context of pesantren, ensuring their continued financial growth.
An evaluation of the financial reporting of PPI 259 Firdaus revealed some inconsistencies with the Pesantren Accounting Guidelines. Nevertheless, the enthusiasm to optimize the potential of halal tourism remains the focus. In addition to efforts to develop Sharia-based tourism destinations, improvements in financial governance are crucial steps to ensure the sustainability of the pesantren and manage assets in line with Islamic values.
Idzhar also conveyed that this KKN is not only a memorable experience but also a comprehensive field of service to implement the knowledge they have gained.
“We hope that our efforts in developing the halal tourism concept can benefit PPI 259 Firdaus and contribute significantly to harmonizing religious values with the tourism industry,” he stated.
It is expected that the presence of the blueprint and website will help PPI 259 Firdaus become a competitive halal tourism destination and have a positive impact on the pesantren and the surrounding community.
